M1 is a narrow measure that includes all money in circulation and account balances for checking accounts.  M2 is a broader measure that is used to forecast inflation. It includes M1, plus savings, deposits, and non-institutional money market accounts. An increase in the money supply stimulates increased spending because it puts more money in the hands of consumers; when people feel wealthier they tend to splurge more. Annually, the per capita figure for <b>energy consumption would be 1124 KWh  per year, or equivalent to emissions of 0.75 tons of green house CO2(Carbon footprint), which is half of NY city’s carbon footprint</b>.
